
A QUICK TEST FOR MANAGERS
Do you have personal "enabling" behaviors that could be interfering with
your ability to manage your team effectively? Answer "yes" or "no" to
each question.
1) Have you felt anger or hostility toward a particular employee?
2) Do you spend a lot of time listening to an employee's personal problems?
3) Do you feel guilty or to blame for an employee's poor performance?
4) Have you lowered your expectations of certain employees?
5) Are you afraid to confront a problem employee because you're afraid
of ruining your relationship with him or her?
6) Do you avoid confronting employees about problem performance or poor
work behavior?
7) When considering the source of an employees poor work performance do
you give alcohol or drug problems a low priority?
8) Are you afraid to report alcohol or drug problems for fear your position
will be affected?
